Never run the controller for my home ap at home? Curious -

If you have a VM infrastructure at home, and will dedicate (it can generally be turned off) a VM to it, then at home is fine.

The units tie themselves to the unique ID each controller install generates, so you cannot just pop up a new controller, configure it and have the PA get the info. It will not do it.

Like to know more about this... How you have yours set up.

I have a VM dedicated to it on one of our Hyper-V servers colocated in a datacenter. This controller runs all of the UniFi AP for our home office workers and all of our small clients with only 1 AP at a site.

Crashplan and Amazon Cloud are two different types of services Crashplan is for backups and archives not for immediate access. Cloud storage would be for immediate access only.

True, true. Sadly, some of us are just broke college employees, lol. I have plenty of local storage at home (3TB in 'server', another 3TB for local Crashplan, and also Crashplan in the cloud)... I'm covered. 8-)

I will have to concede that point to you, because as you said, it is working for Microsoft... Guess they are adhering to the if it ain't broke don't break it policy

      FTFY.

Playing with licensing could mean going out of business almost overnight. That's very dangerous stuff to try to tweak. A major change means major risk. And honestly, after decades of messing with it and thinking about it, their model is actually really clean, simple and mostly obvious for a large software vendor with a large array of interrelated products that are used in nearly every combination possible that isn't open source.

I love Linux but, not as a desktop. It's graphic system well sucks.
Windows 7 was pretty good aside from being resource intensive (do to aero graphic mainly).
Windows 8/8.1 start menu sucked on desktops but there was a lot of good changes especially with windows updates handling.
I'm liking windows 10 so far.

Windows 8 suffered from the "we know what's best for you and we don't care what you want" mentality, otherwise known as hubris. With Windows 10, I feel like MS listened to customer demands - for example, bringing back the start menu button, and shrinking the Windows 8 start screen down to a less annoying, and user-friendly size, cause let's face it, everything popping up full screen is frustrating, especially when it's not what you're used to - and delivered, at least in the tech preview, a snappy, intuitive, just plain nice to use OS.

yeah I jumped on the Echo bandwagon as well. In light of the Samsung TV thing, I'm not really keen anymore to having a device around whose job it is is to listen to me talk...

That's why I specifically pointed out in that other thread why a device from Amazon would be of no concern.

Well the ICON is light years ahead in hardware specs, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

I honestly could keep my Icon another 2 years or so...it is THAT good (speed and stable wise)...I totally love the phone...I don't think Verizon will pass on the next Flagship Windows Phone (excuse me, Windows for Phone, or however we may refer to it)...but if they do, I'm good with the Icon...the camera is amazing...

I bought a Onedrive 50 gig subscription last year to have an online place to save my pictures. Now that I've personally setup my own Office 365 business account I wanted to migrate everything over to that single account - It's been pretty frustrating the past two weeks trying to move items between them and get the sync to work.

They did rename "My PC" to "This PC." Their need to rename the "computer" in every release is getting ridiculous.

Could be a quick way to tell what build you are on too, as a quick visual indicator.

Still, no reason they couldn't put the build number in the lower right like all other builds they've had in the past!~
